I recently purchased a new Asus RT-AC88U and there seems to be a problem. In the past I have brought a new router and BOOM, plug and play. Connection strait from the wall into the router, and i have internet connection! However, this time with the new router it doesn't get connection from the wall. In the setup for the schematics it shows a modem plugging into the router but the modem doesnt show plugging into the wall? Im confused...

Hopefully someone can shed some light on the situation!

Solution
Most probably that old Fritz was combo ADSL modem / router unit, plugged into a phone line.
You have two options:
- return your shiny RT-AC88U, and get another combo ADSL modem / router
- get stand-alone ADSL modem, and plug it into your router' WAN port.
In both cases, you have to check with your ISP what modems are compatible / supported.

I have another Fritz Box that died, thats all. Only the Wifi works :\ is that a help?
