Wait till 8K series come out?

Planning to build a new comp, should I wait till the 8000 series come out? How much better will they be?
I was first planning to get a 7870, do you think the 7870 will be much cheaper when the 8K series comes out?

Probably would be the advisable option. However I could not wait and recently got a 7970. I'll just not look at newegg for a few months now 😛

If your going to buy AMD they wont be that much better. Same manufacturing process and similar architecture. Maybe 30 percent faster for next gen cards. Also you pay a premium if you buy within the first month or so. So if they come out in June you should really wait till july before you buy. I would grab what you need now.

Chances are the 7870 won't be much cheaper when the 8xxx series comes out. I looked and the 6870 isn't really any less money now that the 7xxx series is here.

However, the 7770 performs just as well as the 6870(within a few percentage points at least at 1080p), so maybe the 8770 will perform as well as a 7870? On newegg right now, you can buy a 7770 for about 110, and a 6870 for 170, which is why I make that comparison.

Last I heard the 8xxx series aren't coming out til maybe late this year if at all this year. Don't remember where I read that though, so take with a grain of salt. There's always gonna be something better around the corner. My advice, wait for that Powercolor 7870 PCS+ to go on sale again with the newegg/tomshardware deal. I picked one up for like 210$ and it's supposed to be better than the 7870 GHZ. The article said they won't be available at that awesome price again for a little while, but that it was gonna come up again fairly soon.
