Want default storage on a different drive than the c drive

I just built this computer and i have a ssd that is running my o/s and a 4 TB HDD. i want to run my O/S on my ssd but i want my HDD to be the computer storage. how do i make that a default? or before each install i need to set the install path to the HDD storage?

I followed those instructions and moved all the doc, music, etc.. but do i dare do that to the program files and files on the c drive? or is that going to mess up the configuration?

No, you cannot do that with programs and applications.
Nor do you want to. You'd be giving up the benefits of the SSD. What size is it?

Its 200GB

That size is FINE for the OS and a whole bunch of applications.
