Hey. I'm looking for some great headphones of studio quality. I'm looking for something in the 200-400 dollar range. Been looking at the Beyerdynamic DT1770 Pro, but I don't know if they are a good fit for my soundcard, Sound Blaster X-Fi HD. I'm a noob at this stuff.

I want to mainly have it for gaming, and for music. I'm looking for closed back headphones, since my PC makes a decent amount of noise.

The 1770 Pro can have the typical Beyerdynamic 'hot' treble issue for some people. The DT1990 Pro is the only Beyer headphone I actually like. Everything else is actually painful with the DT 990s being the worst of the bunch. The 1990s are open though.

There's the DT177X Go from Massdrop which I haven't heard but the reviews are solid. It doesn't seem to have the bright treble issues.

There's also the Massdrop x Meze 99 Noir which is a Meze 99 Classic with a different finish for $100 less than the original.

There's a new AKG 371 which is getting stellar reviews. I'm not sure they're...
I have the DT 770 Pro's 80 Ohms version and can only sing there praises and the DT 1770 Pro is very similar. I have the newish Sound Blaster AE5 Sound card and they drive the headphones exceptionally well. The sound quality coming through the headphones are immense and I am now sold on Beyerdynamic . I also have a set of Audi Technica M50X's but still prefer the DT770 Pro's....

The absolutely amazing Massdrop x Fostex TH-X00 Ebony just went out of stock at Massdrop after being on sale for $100 off for a few weeks. It would have been my number 1 recommendation in the price range and is my favorite headphone. The Mahogany and Purpleheart version are still in stock but they aren't as good for all around use.

I'd avoid the M50X. It gets recommended everywhere but I'm convinced anyone recommending it has never actually heard a good headphone. The M40X is pretty good but it's on ear and not comfortable for long use.

The Monoprice M1060C is a planar option. It's going to be heavy and build quality might be iffy but it gets pretty good reviews.

Is the only reason you want closed back because you think your computer is loud? Once you turn the volume up loud enough to hear that won't be a problem with open backs. If you need isolation because you don't want to bother others that's one thing but I wouldn't rule out open back just because you think your computer's loud.

Sadly I bought into the M50X hype and was disappointed...My DT770 Pro's are way better...
