Want sound in my earphones and through my TV speakers.

I had a 32 inch Insignia. I could plug my RCA base into a port in the back and it would give me sound through my earphones, and everyone in the room heard through the TV's speakers. Separate volume contrrol. Great! I just bought a 40 inch Insignia and it will not permit both. It's one or the other. I need both. What is the simplest inexpensive way to solve this problem?
