What is the general concensus for the best Case, Monitor/LCD, Motherboard, CPU, graphics card, RAM, HArd drive, SOund Card for gaming?

No such thing, and even an answer that seems reasonable today will not be next month, or the month after, or whenever something new comes out.
As far as ideas on what parts to use to build a rig, post your budget, and any constraints and/or preferences (including on where you can shop for parts), and I'm sure you'll get a lot of suggestions.

I don't expect anyone being able to help you with a question as general as that. :non:

Everything is a variable.

Personal Prefence
Budget
Availability
Technical Knowledge of : Building, Maintaining, Configuring.

You're most likely on your own as of right now.

Yeah... That's like asking what the best car is. How much do you want to spend? What kind of looks are you in to? What are your specific needs (specific games, programs, etc.) www.newegg.com I'd look for a case and monitor there, as they're really just personal preference, then give us a budget for the hardware.

well,

No case, 30" monitor, i7 920 oc'd as far as possible with LN2, 3 x GTX 285, oc'd with LN2, 12gb ddr3-3000 CL8 oc'd with LN2, an OCZ 1TB PCIe SSD and another 3 in raid 10 if thats possible.

does that answer you question other than the sound card and motherboard part?

Not really - If you already know what you want (and high end hardware such as that in the first place) why ask such a general misinformed question?

It doesn't answer any of Helloworld's questions either.

:pfff:

LOL, I have been out of gaming and HW circles since 2004, so I am VERY rusty...beyond rusty, in fact FOSSILIZED!

Here is what I can tell you:
I definately want to stick with nVIDIA and Intel for Graphics and CPU.
My friends all tell me go with ASUS for the motherboard.
I am totally clueless now on hard drives and RAM as well as monitors.

My budget would be $1500.

Thanks

Well let's be realistic -

With the parts you stated it would be impossible to build that with $1500.

I would start from the bottom and start looking at prices of different parts - since you know what parts you need, you should be able to get a better idea of what an entire pc build would cost.

By the way OCZ - or any company at that, doesn't make a solid state drive that big. The biggest one out is 500gb I believe and the price is around 1500$ for just that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong - I beleive I just read an article here at Tom's hardware about it.
