Want to format drive for a new motherboard

Almost finished a new build. I am keeping my current TB HD drive. I WANT to format it. Should I format before switching to new board or format after installing in new system?

As N3rdR4ge states, it doesn't matter, but since you can format during the OS installation process, I don't see any reason not to format when it's already installed into the new system.

Thanks N3rdR4ge. I didn't think it would matter but I wanted to be sure. It's kind of like "measure twice and cut once" (Old wood worker)
