Want to get my computer to 32gb of memory, currently have 16gb. ASUS ROG Motherboard.

Hi,

Sorry for the crappy subject.. 🙁

I have an ASUS ROG, and have had it since 2015. This has been an awesome build of mine, and outside of updating the video card, it has been great and has allowed me to play games on max setting since built.

However, one problem I want to solve is memory. I currently on have 16 GB of memory. Specifically, GSKILL F3-2400C10D-16GTX, which ix 8gbx2. My motherboard supports 32gb, and I have two slots empty to do just that. I would normally go with the same memory, but, its sold out everywhere, and now I want to make the best purchase decision.

My budget is $150, but with wiggle room, I don't want to spend more than I have to. I want to fill in the second pair slots, knowing that each slot pair work independently of each other, I believe this means I can just go get 8GBx2 sticks that will work on this board, but I want to make sure I choose wisely.

Hopefully this is an easy question for someone out here and hopefully I covered everything that is needed to make a good recommendation, if any.

I decided to have my 2nd DIMM pair (A2/B2) with these. F3-2400C11D-16GSR.

A second pair of different memory may work it may not. Even if you had the same memory exactly it may not.

Your major problem here is the latency and timings are different on the new memory you got. It may work if you set the old memory to the new slower timings, but it also may be unstable.

I hope wherever you bought it has a good return policy.

In my personal opinion i don't think that extra ram will solve your problem unless you are using all your ram which is doubtful if your just gaming.
