Want to go back to windows 7

I am on windows 10 since release and want to go back to 7 but worried that since I cant find my key I wont be able to go back to 10 if 7 become out dated.

For your Windows 10 install, you do not need the 'license key'. Things have changed. You have a "digital entitlement".

Assuming you did the actual Upgrade from 7 to 10, and assuming it actually activated, you have no worries about activating that Win 10 on that same hardware.

Why do you want to go back to Win 7?

Yes, exactly. The license is stored with Microsoft and tied to your hardware.

Probably, yes.
Do it too many times back and forth, and the activation servers will probably yell at you.
