Want to go from vista home 32 to win 7 64 with student download

I have a vista home 32 machine. I have downloaded the student download to upgrade to 7 64. I would like to do a clean install using this download some how because i know to go from 32 to 64 you must do a fresh install. Is this possible??

in a word NO, the 32 bit and 64 bit OS are imcompatable, all you can do is a clean install

i have found some tutorials on how to make this downloaded file into an iso such that could be put on a disk and used to do a clean install. does anyone have any experience with this?

sure use Magic ISO, download the ISO and burn to a disc, it's easy

and you can use it to clean install just like a retail disk? have you done this?

Microsoft do a nice app for creating a bootable DVD or USB drive. I used it to install Windows 7 64bit from a ISO file, to a USB pen drive, and it worked great. But as the others have said, you must do a clean install on a new drive (preferable), or dual boot. IMO i would install on a second HDD, If you need to copy data etc.
