Want to have 2 monitors

I have:
ASUS Z97-DELUXE(NFC & WLC) LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard and
Intel Core i7-4790K Haswell Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor BX80646I74790K

Currently am using the built in (integrated) video display. But now I want to add a 2nd monitor and haven't been able to figure out how to do that.

Do I need to get a video card that has 2 HDMI ports? My MB has a DisplayPort and mini DisplayPort but most monitors and HD TVs use HDMI connections and I am already using my one HDMI port. Someone suggested I could get a y connector to use that one HDMI port for two monitors but I am not sure computer will detect both monitors at same time or that quality might suffer. What should I do?

You can use a DisplayPort to HDMI conversion cable. I use one, and it works just fine.

A splitter would only give exactly the same display on both screens. The PC only seems one monitor, which is probably not what you want.

Yes, that should work.
Mine is a whole single cable. DisplayPort on one end, HDMI on the other end.

Actually I do need the same display on both screens. Do you know where I can get the splitter? The ones I see are all male on one end with females on other end. I think I need all females.
