I have an old 15" flat screen monitor which I'd like to make into a teleprompter but I was hoping I could crank up the brightness beyond its current limitations by augmenting the backlight. The monitor is a VideoSeven L15PS. Is there any way to tell without opening it whether the backlights will be spread around the entire back of the screen or will it be lit from the bottom with some kind of film to refract and disperse the light 90°? I guess the former would be easy to augment whilst the later would be much more difficult.

Thanks; it turned out to be the first kind with six cold cathode tubes at the back (I stuck some strips of LEDs in between them).
