Hello,

I am currently researching parts to build a gaming desktop. I want to play heavy fps games like arma 3, so I need to get a good graphics card. I want to get the gigabyte gtx780, mainly because of the 3 windforce fans. I wanted to know if the
Gigabyte gtx 780 is compatible with the msi z87-g45 gaming mother board. I also want to know if these things will fit in a nzxt phantom ATX full tower case. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but this is my first build.

Solution
yes it is. the card is not motherboard specific, as long as you motherboard has PCI-E slot (preferably ver3.0) it will fit just fine.
the only issue regarding the compatibility of a graphics card with any case is the length of the card. If you can mention the exact model number of the NXZT phantom series (for ex 530/630/820), I may help you a bit more.

Sorry for late reply I was busy for a while. model number is PHAN-001WT at least that's what I think. Thanks

NZXT phan-001wt case can house a graphics card of length up to 350 mm.

And the windforce version of gtx 780 is around 290 mm long. So it will fit just fine.

Thanks. And I am assuming that a 650 watt power supply unit would be enough for the graphics card and all 7 possible fans that go in the case correct?

Theoretically you should be fine as a GTX 780 requires no more than 600W PSU.
But I'd like to have a 750W with your build. Cause if you plan to overclock your CPU and GPU in the future to get a bit more performance you may run out of power with a 650 watt. A 750 watt psu gives you better future expandability.
