My HDD makes a buzzing sound, it's not extremely loud. It's like a humming noise. I ran Seatools on it and it's passed all the tests, it's about 6 months old and a Seagate Barracuda 1TB Drive. Is this normal?

Hi schneekerpeeker ,
I agree with Tyrod this is not normal you may have a hard drive on its way out , my advice would be to backup any data that you want to keep and
replace that drive.
6 months old makes no difference , i have had HDD's dead on arival , some last 3months , some last 12 months others 10 years or more
If the hard drive is only 6months old you may be able to RMA it to the manufacturer.
1TB drives are fairly cheap these days so to replace it wont cost an arm and a leg

I must emphasize that the sound is not very loud at all, it can only really be heard when your ear is close to the drive. It seem to be the spinning of the drive that cause the noise. Should a HDD be extremely quiet? What should a healthy Seagate sound like?

Try listening next to a Seagate Barracuda 7200.3 HDD. It's old, but got the same sound. Same with my dad's WD HDD and my Toshiba MQ HDD. All are OEM.

It's normal operation. Disks are running and can't run perfectly smooth (no sound, perfect reliability, perfect speed, etc.).
