Want to update a P6100 processor

I am doing the same upgrade but still not sure about the BIOS. Ordered the part but cant find a bios upgrade.

Yes that was way too open of a question. Sorry.

What I was trying to ask was..

I have a Toshiba Salilite l655-5096. I want to upgrade the processor from a Pentium p6100 to a Core i3 380m. The two cpus have the same socket, wattage, and temp range. I can get the i3 cheap. I have upgraded my desktops for years but have always got a motherboard and processor combo. On impulse I said I would buy the i3so I could hang on to my laptopfor a while longer. I started wondering if the BOIS in my laptop would support the new cpu. Any thoughts?

I can't see any features between the two that shout 'NO' to me.
The i3-3xx line shipped before any of the Pentium P6xxx.
It's a fair upgrade. P6100 = 3DMark 06 - CPU @ 1840. Core i3-380M = 3DMark 06 - CPU @ 2701.

In your place I'd look for a Toshiba Satellite support forum and look to see if any of the other Toshiba Satellite L655 owners have managed a successful P6xxx to Core i3-3xx or i5-4xx upgrade.
