curiously your mb support list doesn't have 16gb - https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-h97-d3h.pdf?v=25ad8af5acb50d93bda456668ab7ffcc

Crucial show 1 16gb set - https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/gigabyte/ga-h97-d3h
shows it can support up to 32gb which makes sense.
I can't see MB listed on Corsair website.
Something tells me with it being that old of a platform, it being DDR3, and most importantly it being a budget board, the QVL is listing supported/tested single sticks rather than kits.

It then states up to 32GB of RAM total support, and I haven't read too deep into it's specs, but I am going to take an assumption guess that it doesn't support more than 8GB per slot with four slots for up to the 32GB support it claims.
