Hey all :)

I want to improve my PC without replacing all its parts 😅.
I have the Ryzen 7 3700X with the Radeon Sapphire 6800XT for four years now.
Most of the games I play are like Planet Coaster or Cities: Skylines 2 and other games with large maps that tend to feel heavy over time.

What CPU you recommended for this 6800XT graphic card that won't do a bottleneck (I will upgrade the motherboard to M5 don't worry);)
7800x3D? or something else?

Thanks for the help:)

CPU: Rayzen 7 3700X
CPU cooler: Stock
Motherboard: gigabyte b450 aruse m
Ram: 32GB DDR4
SSD/HDD: XPG SX8200 Pro PCIe Gen3x4 M.2 2280
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT
PSU: 700W
Chassis:
OS: Windows 11
Monitor: IIyama 2K

5700X3D would drop right in, certainly a top end gaming CPU competes well against 14th and 200 series i5.

AM5 motherboard means getting DDR5 as well.

For the games you seem to be targeting though, X3D may not be what you want. Higher clock speeds and core count is desirable for the likes of City Skylines and other simulation titles.

Ryzen 5900XT (CPU) would be a decent drop in choice.

7900X or 9900X would be more in line with 7800X3D/9800X3D pricing and get you 12 cores at a higher frequency.

IIRC City Skylines 2 is very GPU heavy. Even a 4090 can struggle with it, at 1080p, as it is so poorly optimized. Microsoft flight sim is one title that comes to mind that loves x3d chips. I have no idea about Planet Coaster. If building new, wait for the 9800x3d as it will be here next week.
