Want to upgrade my ram, but I need help understanding it.

I currently have 4 slots for ram, with 2x2gb (0202) and want to upgrade to 8 gb with 16 down the road (0404 to 4444). I checked my system specifications and i can handle 16gb.

I was going to replace the 0202 with 0404 in january but I'm curious to know if the 2x2gb would still be useful. Perhaps something like 4422 or 2244? or should I just keep it at 0404 and eventually go 4444?

I have installed PC Wizard 2014 and can provide additional technical information if needed.

Can try with them in a 4-2-4-2 combo (keep the 4GB sticks in the lead channel slots and the 2 GB sticks at trailers, that puts 6 GB in each channel and full dual channel compatibility - and of course it hinges on the old and new playing nice together - if any problems give me a shout and we can try adjustments if needed

Got a big gift card for Christmas and already have my RAM installed! Your help was greatly appreciated! the 4242 combo is working nicely! Now all I have to do is wait for my video card to arrive and I'll be good for a while
