Hello frnds , i have a motherboard pig31u having intel G31 chipset, my processor is " INTEL (R) PENTIUM (R) 4 CPU 3.20 GHZ - 3.19GHZ . my system crashes when working on browsers, playing videos, etc.

I want to upgrade a processor which is best for this motherboard.

Well the manufacturer of your very old Soket 775 mainboard does not distribute a supported CPUs list. There are other sites online that show supported CPUs.

For example:
http://www.pc-specs.com/mobo/Mercury/Mercury_PIG31U/1070/Compatible_CPUs

If the board/bios actually supports the CPU is not guaranteed. Your best bet would be to look into the board manual for possible CPUs. And then it could be hard to find one that still works (maybe on ebay). Maybe it's your PCs way to show you that it's time for a new one 😉
By the way, sudden crashes while web browsing and so on are rarely caused by the CPU. The possibility that the crash is caused by your RAM, PSU or simple overheating is much higher.

It's not worth it. Don't upgrade the processor. You are wasting your money.
This board will NEVER work like you need it to.
This board is 100% obsolete. P4 processor is 100% obsolete, and worthless.

Get a NEW motherboard, and a QUAD core processor. Now you will be VERY happy.
And, I would recommend Gigabyte or Intel boards.

Listen to what I am telling you: don't WAX a garbage truck.
