CPU-intel core i5-4670k @3.40
MB-Z87-G45(MS7821)
RAM-16gb DDR3-Crucial
PSU-750w

I was mainly looking at a CPU upgrade and possibly more RAM... but ive been reading that my MB may need upgraded too? just looking for opinions. im also looking to upgrade my HDD as its almost completely full. i am thinking about running a 250gb SSD for C drive and a 1TB for D... any suggestions on my build? as for budget, the cheaper the better but i can go up to 1k. Thanks guys!

And another thing, since you have an "overclockable" components. It will be better if you have aftermarket coolers.
Like air cooler, All-in-One Liquid Cooler, Or Custom Water Cooler.

CPU: No need to upgrade
Motherboard: Optional as upgrade
GPU: No need to upgrade
CPU Cooler: Add an aftermarket Cooler
SSD: Add an SSD (120GB or 240GB) and install your OS in it
HDD: Get one HDD (1TB) for file storage
RAM: No need to updgrade your RAM

Hope this helps! 😀

GPU- Ok! No need to upgrade
CPU- Ok! No need to upgrade
Motherboard - You can upgrade to Z97 Chipset if you want.
RAM- Ok! No need to upgrade

Get a 120GB or 240GB SSD and install your Operating System in this drive so that they will run faster
Get a 1TB HDD for your file storage.

Upgrading to Z97 would be a waste of money, but I just noticed you can definitely overclock your i5-4670K. For a basic overclock, get a Cooler Master 212 EVO, for anything more we'd probably want either a Noctua or a water cooler, depending on the size and type of your case.

Pair that with an SSD and you'll be flying.

Despite the posters telling you to upgrade your motherboard, I'd not advise it. Sure, you can overclock, but on those machines, you generally can get around 10% at most. And I'm pretty sure that as-is, you are not maxing out the CPU in most games. Nor will that 10% extra justify (IMHO) the cost of the new motherboard. Also bear in mind that according to Microsoft licensing regulations, Most installs of Windows are tied to the motherboard, and that would, by strict definition, require that you again buy a license for Windows.

Even disregarding the cost of the OS, why would you now invest upwards of $100 in an overclockable motherboard for a CPU socket that is near end-of life? Get the SSD, you will be happy with the improvement and in a while, use the money you saved to get a newer motherboard and processor with the new LGA 1150 socket.

Nobody recommended a motherboard upgrade, and his current motherboard can do far more than a 10% overclock. People have pushed 4670Ks to 4.8GHz with the same motherboard.
