Want to uprgrade AM3 CPU

Hello, I currently have a AMD Phenom II X2 565 in a Gigabyte GA-770-USB3 MOBO. It is the AM3 set. What would be the best processor to put in for gaming? Would it be the AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor? I also have an EVGA GTX 750 Ti 2gb. Thanks in advance!

Well, you have a dual core right now and there are games which will benefit from a quad core upgrade. So yeah, a 965 might help. It would pair well with a 750 ti.

Just be aware that the Phenom IIs are older tech, so they won't run games the same speed as a modern quad core. What games are you hoping to play?

Csgo, pubg, Witcher, hoping Wolfenstein. I had a c2q q9650 w/ the 750ti but I'm letting my son use it now. It ran all those fairly well except Wolfenstein would have dropped fps. It seems the AMD although newer does not perform as well
