Here is what I have so far. Gpu is set in stone but I'd like some advise or tips if you all don't mind. Also, I'd like to play all games max setting on a 32in LCD and at one point a 4k monitor along side that. The only thing else I need it for is Microsoft office, streaming while playing games, c# programming, and Netflix. I know it's not much asking to run those seperately, but if need be I want to be running multiple programs at once.

I don't like getting the 4690k and a $100 cooler when you could get the 4790k($279 at microcenter) and a 212 Evo for about the same price. In the end, they'll be clocked the same but you'll have hyperthreading and more l3 cache for free.

Would that allow for a little bit of overclocking? I doubt I'd go that much, but would it keep the temps cool enough? Also, what's the difference in the 1.5v compared to 1.3v?

That gpu does very well with 4k from what I've read and seen. Its somewhere around 13% less than the 980 and that's a bit overkill from what I've read. Not completely sure so if anyone has done some testing personally I'm open to suggestions.
Oh and why the different mobo? Was it a bad choice or just to make it work with the i7 and ram? Mobos are the one thing I go full blown stupid on lol

The trident X series runs at 1.65V which is not recommended with Haswell CPUs (recommended maximum of 1.5V+5% (1.575V))

As for the 4k thing, I guess it depends what you consider acceptable fps. If you have seen some benchmarks on games and think it's sufficient, go for it (BTW, I do think that the 980 is not worth it considering the price and performance compared to 970 but you got to also consider that last superslow .5 GB of VRAM with the 970 with 4k gaming especially if you're looking into multi monitor gaming on top of that).

One GTX970 is not going to perform very well at 4k. Even one 980 is going to struggle. You pretty much have to get two cards. The 290x or 295x2 are actually better better options for now from a price/performance perspective, but I would wait for the 300 series to come out or the 980ti/990.

Yes the 4790k with the 212 Evo would overclock a little. Keep in mind that it comes running 4.4ghz from the factory.
