Hey guys,

I built a computer and salvaged 3 X 2GB 1333mhz DDR3 sticks from my previous HP desktop. This is the model type:

So I want to upgrade my RAM since 6gb is not enough and found a great deal from ripjaws 2 X 4GB 1600mhz DDR3:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314

I know that by mixing, all of them will run on 1333mhz but I want to know if they are compatible with each other. I also know that both have CAS of 9. With 2 x 2gb and 2 x 4gbs, I can get 12gb of ram :)

Also its totally fine if I have to end up running the two ripjaws by themselves. I'll just be a little sad.

Thanks.

Solution
Depending on your workload a 1600MHz 8 GB might give you more performance that a 12GB 1333MHz 12GB RAM. cause going from 1333 to 1600 has a noticeable difference. So go for that 8GB if it works, try it for yourself about the 1333 and 1600.

And even if someone with the same specs tried it, it would have different results on your PC.
