Hi again, Tom's Hardware! My 6 years old system with Intel i5 6500 and GTX 1060 is getting a bit old, so I want to build a whole new one from scratch, based on Ryzen. The usage will be gaming & programming.
This is the specification I'm currently looking at:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 3.4 GHz 8-Core Processor
GPU: MSI VENTUS 2X OC GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB Video Card
MOBO: MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard
PSU: be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory
SSD: Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
CASE: Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case
COOLER: Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler
HDD: 2 SATA HDDs from my old PC
From what I researched, the parts seem to be compatible.
I have a few questions:
1. Would that be quiet! PSU be good for the 5800x3d and 4070? I found it on that PSU Tier website as a Tier A potential and I read that the fan is not noisy. I also do not plan to overclock the CPU/GPU. Would 750W be on the safe side?
2. I read that the 5800x3d heats quite a bit, so I'm thinking of getting a Noctua NH-D15 for it. I'd prefer the old style air cooling instead of AIOs. I'll be getting LPX RAM in order to make sure that the cooler will fit in the case. Would Peerless Assasin, Dark Rock Pro 4 be better choices?
3. Is that MSI B550 Gaming Plus mobo decent for this configuration? Are there other alternatives?
4. Other comments/suggestions
