Erm...the motherboard in the link is an AM4 socket and its DDR4-2400 RAM?

This is what you're looking for. Quality parts, sleek look. Great overall performance for your money. Note, you need to always run at least 2 Ram stick configuration for better performance, don't need cpu cooler since ryzen comes with a great stock heatsink. You can also make this build a little cheaper by going 2x4gb Ram sticks, take 3000mhz. But I would recommend going in the set part listing, as it'll be complete and ready for AAA title gaming. And he better be happy about getting such a nice gift ;)

I'd go ahead and grab a B450 motherboard to guarantee out-of-box compatibility with the 2200g. I'd also get the 1060 6gb as that card will have much more longevity than the 3gb version. Or go with a RX 580. You should be able to find some DDR4-3200 for a small amount more money - Ryzen CPUs show significant benefit from faster RAM. Buy the RAM in a kit that contains two RAM sticks so that it runs in dual channel.

build looks nice, but u can buy a sata based 2.5inch solid state drive for a lil cheaper. id also go the rx580 over the 1060 if they are the same price point, itll give a lil better in many titles, and about the same in others. plus u can buy it at new egg for the same price, and get 2 free games.
