Hi, ive been playing modern warfare since it came out and its just not living up to standards because its not as smooth as i want it to. the only reason i want it at 100 is so it can look semi decent with my 144hz monitor im only using 50% of vram and wanted to know if i should upgrade my gpu or maybe its a bottleneck??? any fps tips or component upgrade ideas are helpful.

Im running a Ryzen 5 2500x 6 core
gtx 1060 6gb
16g of 2100mz ddr4 RAM

I run a r5 2600 and a gtx 1060 3gb. I overclocked my gtx 1060 with +175 core clock and a +640 memory clock using MSI Afterburner.

on all low settings with normal textures and the lowest AA enabled. I get 100fps at 1080p with drops down to about 60-65 in some cases of aiming down sights...

Is that 1 or 2 sticks?
Ideally, it should be 2x 8GB 3200-3600mhz for Ryzen builds. They are sensitive to ram speed. You hurt your system's performance with that slow 2100 kit.

Aside from that, here's how you can test your system's limits in that game.
Run the game on ultra, or high settings, and take note of in-game minimum, maximum, and average fps.
Then run it on low - take notes.

Did fps go up when you lowered the settings? If yes, then your cpu + ram can handle a stronger gpu.
If it did not, or barely moved, then you need a faster cpu/ram.

Sorry haven't gotten to it yet but i will let you know

and on a side note i'm trying to reach this fps goal in ground war maps which are significantly larger i reach anywhere from 60-100 on regular maps

so now that i think about it wouldn't i need more processing power for larger maps?

The 1060 just is not up to par to play the game smoothly even at all low settings.

Personally Im getting a 2060 super next month. I wouold also recommend you upgrade your gpu. Upgrading your gpu would have the best benefit for fps.

Your 2600x is perfectly fine for 100fps hell even 140fps. But I would also upgrade your ram speed to at least 3000mhz as ryzen loves faster ram and you could get a few extra frames by doing so.

You may end up having to turn down the view distance if it's too much work for the cpu.

if i were to upgrade to the 2060 would i see any bottlenecking with my 2600?

but i dont play GW that much so its not a super bad situation, i just want my games to look good on 144hz

No.

here is also a video of someone benchmarking the 2060 super and the 2600 combo. All maxed out, cpu never goes above 60%.

Ground war may possibly use like 10-15 more%.

I have an RX580 the AMD counterpart of the 1060, and I get 100+ fps with drops to 90 when theres too much on the screen. (my game is crashing constantly though)
