So only have limited funds and would like to get a new GPU. My system as a whole is relatively old, dating from 2013. Key components?

CPU - i7 3820
GPU - 2 x 7950s
SDD - 512gb
RAM - 32gigs.

I'm basically wanting to upgrade to a single GPU, as I'm finding crossfire is just not supported in enough games. I'm living in Australia and GPUs are quite expensive. So I'm wondering which of the following will best set me up for 1080p gaming (or even 2k is I actually swing it).

Radeon 390 or 390x
Or
NVidia 970

Which of those options will best work with my CPU and provide the best single card experience for 1080 or 1440 gaming?

Cheers!

Of those choices, the 390 or the 390 x will give you better gaming performance at higher resolutions. You may want to wait a week or so, the new GTX 1080 and 1070 are being released. The 1070 might be a good choice for you. It should be capable of 4k gaming and be priced similarly to the 390X (at least here in the US). You CPU is still a very good CPU and will drive any card. You might overclock it if you haven't already.
