My new (old) house isn't wired so I'm going to use powerline adaptors. I want to put a wireless acess point on the third floor. But the only ones I've seen that are powerline WAPs do not have antennas - they are just small plug in boxes. I'm concerned they won't have enough range. So, 2 questions:

1. Anybody know of a AV or AV2 powerline WAP with antenna(s)?

2. Might I be better off (range-wise) with a free standing WAP (with antennas) attached by ethernet to a standard powerline adaptor? Any downside to this option other than aesthitics and cost of extra box?

Thanks

You will probably get a cheaper and better solution by using a good pair of powerline adapters with an inexpensive router (like TP-Link) attached and configured as an AP. Which powerline adapters you need to get depends on what bandwidth you need to support, just casual Internet or video streaming and gaming. Take a look at the reviews HERE.
