Hello first off thanks for taking the time to read this
When I load up War Thunder it all works smoothly but when I go to play a match or test flight my pc freezes for a good minute or so after that I can play that match/test flight. Afterwards whenever I go to play another match/test flight my computer freaks out black screens, where I can only see my mouse cursor. I can not alt+tab or ctrl+alt+del I am forced to hard reset. Also it causes my dvd drive to spin like crazy and the whole thing sounds like its about to take off. I've tried the newest NVidia graphics drivers and a previous one. I did recently install a new HDD but no other games have given me any problems. I am wondering if maybe I have a BIOS driver update or something.

If you have any questions feel free to ask me. I'm not that great with computers though so I don't know how much help I could be but I'll sure try my best :)

Solution
Try checking the game cache in the war thunder launcher.

I've been playing WT for nearly a year now and have never had any problems with black screening.

I tried verifying the integrity of the game cache through Steam and analyzing the files through the launcher itself. Also Ive read that some people who's game was freezing had luck with disable shadows and choosing DX9 for rendering. I tried both but no luck :/ This time however when I tried playing the game it actually detected a freeze and opened up the little window that tells you so, but still after trying to play again, the whole black screen thing happened again. Thanks for the reply :)

Does it only happen with War Thunder? Try using a different graphics card.

This is extremely weird but it seems to only happen to free to play games I've downloaded through Steam. I've tried War Thunder, Black Light Retribution and Path of Exile. All have the same problems.. a few minutes of gameplay then freeze then black screen.

I'll try using a different graphics card and see if that is the problem, if not I guess I wont be playing any F2P any time soon.
