I'm still playing one of the old mods. Warcrimes keeps giving me an error
message part way through. It says it can't find a file. valve/robo.wad

I've googled and can't find anything related to this error. Can anyone
explain why it is happening?

Is this a file that was removed with an update? The problem occurs at the
scene where you enter a room that looks like an empty swimming pool. You
kill the grunts that are near invisible. You break a pipe and the pool fills
enabling you to leave it. All is fine until you leave through a door and
then it tries to load the next map and returns the error. Then crashing back
to the desktop.

It is indeed looking for a file called "robo.wad". This file contains
textures that are presumably used in the map that crashes. If you
haven't already, you could try searching your system for this file,
incase it does exist but is not in the right place. Or you try
downloading the mod again in case you do have the file but it is
corrupted.

I did a quick Google and turned up only a couple of results...
http://www.gamers.org/pub/idgames/graphics/robo.txt
http://doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=2712

.... and a bit of info:
Title : Robo Doom
Filename : ROBO.WAD
Author : Ben Hugeback (Wakko)
Email Address : benh@hevanet.com

If all else fails, you could try mailing this guy, although it's
anyone's guess if the email address still works. A better last resort
would be to mail the mod creator.

>From the info above, I would hazard a guess that Ben Hugeback created a
texture pack and possible a monster or map for Doom, and this has
subsequently been revivied in the HL mod you are playing now.

I think all you need to do is find the robo.wad file and drop it into
the valve directory where HL is looking for it.
