I was just stress testing and adjusting my fan curves when this happened. Fyi I have a delidded 8700k @ 5Ghz. I've had this oc for a couple months now and didn't have this problem back when I did the oc. Usual temperatures while gaming are around 65C. I don't do any other tasks that involve higher temperatures.

Highest core temp during this test was 85 with an average of around 70. As you can see it never even throttled, It shut down the test by itself.

Does this just mean my oc is unstable or do I have a serious problem?

Update: I bumped the core voltage by 0.005 and all is good again

Just an unstable oc. Do watch out with upping the voltage as that can seriously lower the life of a cpu.

Chances are you were right on the edge of the CPU being stable and over the last couple of months the CPU degraded a little for it to become unstable at them given clocks/voltage.
