I am new to overclocking and I wouldn't probably do it if there weren't some easy tools like AI Suite II. Two days ago I built a machine for (slave) 3d rendering of animations it means it is under heavy load of 100% cpu and memory usage for days.

Every three hours I have a warning. Like one of these
[04/18/2013 at 12:54 am] +3.3V 0.768 Abnormal
[04/18/2013 at 12:54 am] +3.3V 3.360 Normal

[04/18/2013 at 10:59 am] Vcore 0.232 Abnormal
[04/18/2013 at 10:59 am] Vcore 1.036 Normal

My build is i7 2700K, corsair H100i cooler, 8GB corsair vengeance ram, a quadro 4000, M4 crucial 256, other HDs, With a corsair HX750 Modular PSU, 80 PLUS Gold. All this happens on a P8Z77-V motherboard with 1908 bios. I have a Windows 8 64 pro not activated yet since i might put it back to windows 7.

I haven't tweaked anything else apart from setting the 'auto tuning' to fast. It goes around 4.4 Ghz with 40 c to 45 c maximum temperature. Sometimes even lower !

Any help will be really appreciated.

Hope the PSU is alright i got it used and i hope i won't regret it.
It is interesting, now it renders for 5 hours with no warning, and i haven't change anything. Bios was updated to latest version. Might need to update drivers to newer than the ones Asus provides. In a socket 2011- 3930k build, that i have as my main machine, there where all sort of old drivers i discovered. They were causing BSOD every now and then.
Is there anyway to do a stress test to psu ? I mean more stress than rendering for two days?

I thought about that, if it was happening more often it would be easy to check. Is there any good tool to monitor the MB/CPU/GPU ? I am recording the history from AI suite II and it seems that the vcore value fluctuates from 1.317v to 1.030v ( every 2 minutes when an image finishes rendering there is a little gap until the server processes and sends the next one ). The 12v is 12.096v all the time, 5v is 5.040v all the time and 3.3v is 3.360v but it has some minor drop to 3.350 at one point. )

It seems that it might be a good idea to try to OC from the bios and not from AI suite II at higher settings and see how it behaves.

Vray renderer is very aggressive and uses the machine to the maximum. Usually at the height of the render it uses all 8 threads and even if i try to open explorer it takes ages ... i mean typing in notepad has a delay!
I am thinking that this happened to AI suite and it got the 0 readings. On the other hand i don't want to have a total meltdown !!!

I will try that, even though i don't have a clue how, yet. Is it possible though to OC as turboboost? I mean when the full cooling kicks in it sounds a bit like a small jumbo jet ... it is ok for a bit when rendering final stuff but when someone is working on it he will go nuts after a few hours. 3.2.1 takeoff ... :bounce:
Sorry but i don't have a clue about OC ... what i am asking is if i tinker it from bios when the machine is in normal workload will it go to 1500ghz and be nice and quiet?

i overclock in the bios--only installed AI suite for the usb boost and AI charger really

AI suite can pop up stupid warnings whether i have the cpu under load or on idle

though seem to get less warnings now with version 2 than i did with version 1.2.3

but they are still totally random

i usually have realtemp , cpuz and corsair link for my psu running

and none of those show any issues when AI suite does

I will try that, have to dig a bit in this forum to find the optimal settings. Ai Suite II seems bloated. But it has some good programs. USB boost and charging is great , My logo, and reboot in bios are great ... and to be honest when i discovered that i can press a button and make the workstations 30% faster i couldn't believe it. We gained a full working day by pressing four buttons in four machines. Last time i tried to OC was 10 years ago an amd and i had terrible problems.

pushing the auto overclock button does tend to use too much voltage on the cpu--though its easy

only tried it once and for 4.8ghz it was putting over 1.5v and spiking 1.6v to the cpu

i shut it down immediately

4.4ghz on a 2700k should be pretty easy

my 2600k is at 5ghz

though you need decent cooling the higher you go

and yes it can downclock when idle--to 1600mhz

for 4.4ghz it may be as simple as putting the multiplier to 44

for 5ghz i had to tweak quite a few settings

I did a simple manual overclock to multiplier 44 but i still keep the probe II and sensor apps. ~They are the only ones that get data from the mobo itself ... I did a lot of driver and firmware updates but i still get once a day the 12v 0.032 alert or . Any other ideas what it might fix that? By the way it does the same with no overclock at all !!!
my corsair vengeance c9 seems like being by default 1333ghz not 1600ghz. I change that in the bios and it works perfectly as 1600ghz. 9 9 9 27 if i remember correctly. IS that a problem with sandy bridge? IT is very frustrating when you have an error that appears once a day or two days. I change something and then I have to wait for days.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) i can't replicate the frequent errors i had on the 18th and 19th of april anymore.

Things went really wrong lately ... the connection of the molex cable to the corsair 500r went on fire ! It was completely destroyed and I saved the computer and the office at the last minute by unplugging the mains.
I unplugged the molex completely moved the pc in the middle of the room and tried again without the case connected. The rest of the machine works fine but i am not leaving it on if i am not seeing it.

Corsair says to replace the front panel of the 500r! But i suspect that there are bigger problems with that build. I have all sort of builds that work perfectly and this one is wrong. I just thought afterwards that my wrong messages might have been caused from from the 500r but still ai suite ii posts problems, I have 4 machines with ai suite and i never saw a problem with warnings. I contacted Asus for the motherboard and they said that i should unistall all monitoring programs and reset cmos, i did it and no luck...

I believe this is a software problem not hardware. I have installed this software on at least 100 machines in the past,I am a PRO custom PC builder. My recent build today resulted in the same problem. This build consisted of all new products out of the box. The best money could but totaling Approx. $2375.00 Still same problem. I quit using the ASUS software myself years ago, But since it is packed with the ASUS software I try it everytime. Just to check. I use other programs and have no problems ,complaints,or crashes.

Ai suite has some nice bits ... but it needs work. My problem stopped a few months ago. I did an upgrade and move my corsair AX 750 PSU to my new machine. I installed an older regular corsair 650 PSU to my old workstation and no warning anymore. I also installed quite a lot of updates in between so i am not 100% if the modular psu caused the problem.
