Warrenty broken by overclocking

I just learnt of out all the shops I could of bought my Rx 480 gtr from I bought it from the 1 shop that will void my warranty on overclocking.

I was wondering how would they even know? Any way I can stop them knowing? It just a waste to get the xfx card you pay an extra arm and a leg where I live and if I had known there was still shops stupid enough to do this I would of checked then just gone somewhere else and paid more.

Any advice on this matter?

That's the norm everywhere, or at least I'd expect it to be. If you buy a product and effectively tamper with it, then the product is no longer the same as when you bought it.

I don't see how anyone could find out, mind you. Not unless the GPU was keeping a secret log of clock speed increases.

In short terms,they create components capable of overclock,especially on the cpu side,when the sell the unlocked cpu's higher than a locked one,but at the same time they say that overclocking might void your warranty.

What they really mean?Imo when you sell a gpu-cpu with overclock potential you cant really tell whata buyer could do with it when overclock.Maybe he will raise the voltage too high,maybe he will not be carefull with the higher overclocked temps,so its the safest way to say that overclocking is void a warranty to keep your mind and your pocket safe.

But in reality,no one cant tell when a gpu is overclock,except you flash it with a custom overclocked bios or your changed the cooler with a aftermarket.
