Recently been looking at gaming laptops to purchase for work/gaming and stumbled upon a Lenovo Legion 7 with:

32GB Ram,
1TB SSD,
RTX 3070
i7-11800H.

The deal for this one was from B&H Photo and Audio and it was a used item but had a 10 rating for condition. I got it for $1500.

Is it generally safe to get used laptops from reliable companies and was this a good deal?

The general order of business is ask first then go buy. We will need a little more context, such as the sort of tasks/titles you want to tax the laptop with or the sort of tasks/titles you're taxing your current laptop/system with. Along those lines we're also going to need to know what you were working with prior to the laptop purchase in order to understand if you did get your money's worth(i.e, an upgrade vertically and not horizontally) with regards to the technology stack.

Got a link to the laptop you purchased?

Lenovo are also doing 30% off laptop at the mo. You might get an even better deal.

The CPU from is significantly faster.
I got mine about 3 weeks ago. Very impressed with mine.

And if you have already bought — you didn’t get a great deal.

Check out BOX —

Same spec. And it’s NEW. Smaller SSD. Less RAM. But can easily be upgraded.

You can also get a Legion 5 Ryzen 7, RTX 3070 for around £1100 new.

See if you can return it.

The new Legion 5 PRO 2022 gives you a better CPU and GPU with DDR5 RAM too. Better TGP ….. For less money !!

You should have posted here first before you bought!

I ended up returning it. The battery life was awful.

I have to say — battery life ain’t great on most laptops, especially if you want to game.

I did extensive research on gaming laptops before I pulled the trigger, even got a budget HP Pavillion to really get a feel for what I truly wanted to get out of a laptop.

But after all my research — the Legion kept coming out on top, for gaming that is. The TGP, MUX switch, build quality etc. The performance for the price, there’s not many that can beat it.

I’m very pleased with mine.

My only tip — I’m not sure paying extra for a QHD panel is really essential … I think a 1080 display for a laptop is fine (with 165hz). Also playing on 1080p on the QHD panel does make the 1080p resolution look slightly blurry on the Legion.

So what will you do now…?
