Watching movie and gaming at the same time?

Is there any way to play games and let my family watch movies through HDMI on TV?
Im using :
CPU: i3-4170
GPU: GTX 950 MSI OC

yep... use the extend screen option. winkey+p.
put the movie on screen 2 (just drag the player over to the second screen. and play the game on screen 1.

there are provisos's though. in that vlc player will often crash at game start. so you will have to use another player like pot player if vlc borks.
