Water cooler went bad, question.

My cpu temp jumped while I was playing to about 100c. So I powered down cleaned out my pc and still up to 100c. So I assumed the pump in my water cooler is bad and submitted a ticket with coolermaster to get a replacement. Can I use a 20$ heatsink cooler from the store in the meantime waiting for coolermaster? I would be playing games.

Mobile won’t let me reply to you guys but I have an Intel i7 4790k not over clocked. I was looking at the Enermax ETS N31. Which I know is bad but I just want something that will work till I get my water cooler in. I’m headed to frys right now so any better options at frys let me know.

That cooler should work ok for your CPU in the meantime. I didn't see really anything else I'd recommend that Fry's carries for budget air coolers.

As long as I can still play games without frying my cpu with that cooler I’ll be happy. I’m not sure how long coolermaster takes but I assume at least 2 weeks.

It should be enough for that CPU, just make sure your gaming loads are under 80C.
