[SOLVED] Water cooling and cpu temp sensor

My workstation and gaming machine is not operational as the CPU temp keeps tripping out at 82.5°C which is the uefi default.

Notes: my system has recently had a water cooling upgrade custom by someone who is very good at computer tech.

Machine specs;
Motherboard: ASRock 970 pro3 R2.0
CPU: AMD FX6100 not overclocked.
GPU: gigabyte eagle RTX3050 OC 8GB

The CPU temp seems to get really hot and I'm just wondering whether the watercooling upgrade has caused false readings on the temp sensor or not.

FX systems are essentially obsolete today.
Likely, your problem is not cpu cooling, but motherboard vrm cooling.
Do not spend another dime on it that can not be used in a future build.
For now, take the case cover off and direct a house fan at the innards. That should help.

FWIW, a modern 12th gen intel processor, a new motherboard and 16gb of ddr4 ram will be twice as capable and sells for perhaps $250.

Thank you for the information. The machine even with a fan pointing inside with the side case off still trips. Could it be the thermal paste being to small. I will also look into upgrades for the pc.

You would need a more capable 990FX based motherboard with decent voltage regulators. They go for about $100 used on ebay.
Your FX-6100 has 6 processing threads and a passmark rating of 3684.
That is when all 6 threads are 100% busy.
The single thread performance rating is 1320.
Single thread performance is the more relevant aspect for games and desktop quickness.

The cheapest $80 12th gen G7400 processor sells for $80 and has a rating of 6804/3046.

It comes with a cooler.

and 16gb of ddr4 ram might be $47:

Total $207.
You can go up from there.
