hey guy's, i have hooked up my xspc rx360 kit and it works great overall but i get a cpu fan error when i boot up, it doesn't seem to hurt anything but how can i fix this? i have no fans plugged into the mobo accept for the tachometer which it doesn't seem to read, should i plug this into my fan controller? or if it's the mobo what port? i have it in cpu_opt. on a sabertooth z77 board.

Does the fan spin, if so then it can read it, the fan is probably running a lower RPM lets say like 400, and the motherboard bios is set to where if the fan runs below 500 then it wont boot or it will shut down. Access your BIOS and change the Low limit for the CPU fan to around 300-400RPM.

I had a issue like this with my BeQuiet dark rock, as it runs at a slower RPM my BIOS didn't allow me to boot because it thought there was something wrong as it was spinning slower than the Low limit.

This may be the problem.

You don't have to disable the monitoring just decrease the Low limit so it doesn't freak out when a fan is only spinning at like 400RPM.

so i went into the bios to change the low level limit and i did, but it doesn't even show that a fan is plugged into any header! would it be a bad idea to plug it into the fan controller instead?

yes, oh and i should mention, this cable is not attached to a fan at all and the three pin header only has one pin in it.

If the cable isn't attached to a fan then why plug it in? It wont work, the bios will detect no fan... Are you saying you're trying to plug in a cable for nothing. If the cable actually goes to the cooler in some way then try the single pin slot on all 4 CPU_FAN pins. Also does it look like it's meant to have more slots or do you only have pin on the CPU_FAN?

Would you be able to provide a picture?

i guess it's only supposed to have one pin, there is only one cable going to the head, i have tried it on multiple ports and nothing happens, maybe i should just unplug it as it's only a tachometer.

In your BIOS, under "Monitor" go to the Fan control. I would set the profile to manual, and then set the minimum fan speed to 300 RPM. Save and exit the BIOS. That should fix the error.

It is reading the cable input as fan speed. I would guess that it is the pump speed.

That's what I said as I had the same problem with my Dark Rock as it runs slower because its made to be quiet but apparently it didn't fix the problem.

hey sorry i never replied, turns out it's a fairly common issue with asus boards, i just changed fan warning to ignore and it went away. thanks for your time!
