Hey guys, so today I got a new case and I have 5 fans in total not including my CPU fan. Now I have a 1080 FE and even with these fans it will hit 82 C and it's a blower type where it sucks air in and blow it out the back( I think) so I don't think MSI after burner would work.

Now for Black Friday I'm getting a new i7 7700k processor and a z series mother board to overclock. Because I have the i5 7600k and a non compatible motherboard to overclock. So what my question is should I get this liquid cooler from new egg

Or should I go with a new 1080 strix (the one with 3 fans)

Price is not an issue by the way.

Thanks guys! Cheers!

MSI Afterburner most certainly does work to set the fan speed higher. Granted at high RPMs it sounds quite loud, but I have mine set to where it basically never gets to 75C. 82 is still a fine temp, but obviously getting close to uncomfortable levels. Set a custom fan curve in Afterburner, it does work with the Founder's Edition cards.

EDIT: All of the AIO 1080s are ridiculously expensive at the moment, so those are pretty much out of the question. The Strix cards are just fine as long as you have good case airflow.

Would you mind providing a link to MSI afterburner so I can set my fan curve? Also the aio I have linked is only 120? Or does that not work? Also I do have good case air flow just bought a new case!

What would be your recommendation for long term then, MSI BURNER WITH custom fan curve, AIO, or the strix?

Thanks!

You already have a 1080 so there's no point in buying a Strix at this point, it'd be better just to wait and buy a new card whenever you need to upgrade. MSI Aftburner here: https://www.msi.com/page/afterburner

You could install an AIO block however it's a lot of work and it will 100% void your warranty for minor temperature and performance boosts.
