Water cooling i5 2500k

Hello all. I'm thinking of watercooling my CPU (i5 2500k) I was just wondering if you guys know about any closed water cooling units for the correct socket. Thanks for your help.

Look here for closed loop coolers, they will all fit that socket.

I just bought the Swiftech H240-X, waiting for delivery. These units seem to be well regarded.

That's a pretty old CPU by now. I wouldn't chuck a bunch of money at it to get a tiny bump in clock speed. Just get a Hyper 212 evo and use it until it's time to upgrade the CPU.

This is wrong on so many levels, The 2500k is a monster overclocker, while not common on a closed loop cooler they can sometimes hit 4.8Ghz. Even at stock speeds the 2500k is a wonderful gaming cpu.

All of what you just said was completely obvious. I know it can be overclocked to the extreme (i have owned one), but what you fail to understand is that a cpu overclock has very little real world effect. Especially negligible in gaming. Its just not worth the time, money, or effort to overclock an old processor. Watercooling should be used for new builds to maximize the performance at the time. Overclocking a cpu that is even one generation old will still not compare to a newer architecture.

All that being said, the Swiftech unit I have comes with all the adaptation you need for various platforms, including the OP's. I got the 2011v3 and that's fairly new.;

Yeah im afraid clock speed is king overclocking to 4.5 from 3.5 is going to put forward huge gains providing that the gpu is strong.

Very good point. If it supports newer sockets, then you're totally right.
To add to that, XSPC makes a very good do-it-yourself kit that could get you started on a custom loop, if that interests you at all.

What is ur current cpu cooler ? I have mine oced to 4.8 on air. It'll depend on ur chip too. And it does give u performance boost in gaming
