Water cooling setup to O/C new build

Hello Everyone I've been reading these forums for a while now and i got interested in a non air cooled solution. You all seem very knowledgable regd cooling so thought id ask for your advise on this..... I am thinking of getting the following parts

for $419


Or are there other parts that you would reccomend?

Well, some of the parts you listed I would change (for various reasons) but that is somehting to get into later. Right now it would be helpful if you could make a few things clearer like o'clocking.

Will you be aggressively o'clocking or just mildly?
What components do you plan to o'clock for that matter?
In your o'clocking, do you plan on altering your voltages?
Do you intend on staying with a single rad solution or do you have any opinions to a dual rad cooling loop? (Of course, this will also be affected by your o'clocking intentions)

For performance in your loop, I would take out the Thermometer, the flow meter and the coolant. Replaced 1Gallon Distilleld Water and additives.

A few questions arise though.

Your radiator choice really depends on how far you want to OC this thing.
Make sure you have either a T-Line+Fillport or a Res.
Tygon 7/16" tubing is something you should consider as an alternative to Primochill.

well i am first going to try out the cooling on my old system that i want to aggressively o/c. If that works out well i will do the same to the new system.

The old system:

My main problem with it is that my 6800gt gets hot very quickly...
graphics card:core 351MHz, mem 1002Mhz, volt reg temp 57C, core 65C idle...102C load

cpu: athlon 64 3400+ 2.2GHz @ 2.42 mobo at 30C cpu at 40 C idle, 46 C under 100%load, 1.55V
htt 220Mhz multiplier 11. I got it up to 2.6 but it was running very hot because i had to raise the voltage.

cpu fan: i have a zalman cnps9700 led at full speed...

In both the old and the new i would like to cool cpu, graphics and northbridge.

My old one, i have fewer options to o/c the cpu but i want to concentrate on the graphics there.


I will be gettin a reservoir because i have read that t-lines take ages to get ready? do you agree?

And ya the tygon is a better tubing.. but why 7/16"? so that it is a tighter fit?

The new setup, i would like to aggresively o/c.

Yes 7/16" gives you a tighter seal. You will probably want to go with a triple 120mm rad for either setup.

A word from the wise though. Never watercool your only PC(s).

Two words: cable management.

Try and get your cabling under control (and hidden) for better airflow for those parts that aren't watercooled.

Second, by aggrssively o'clocking I mean the ram, cpu, gpu and altering the voltages. If you plan on doing that with either rig than a NB waterblock wouldn't be a bad idea. Otherwise, a decent HSF combo and some good cabling would do just fine.

... will do as you say regd the 3*120 fans and the nb water block.

BTW, I tried out a thermaltake duorb G0102 vga cooler and it dropped my temps by 24C idle and by 50C under 100% load but i still wasnt able to raise my core and memory clock speeds by much (aquamark, 3dmark freeze midway through...) does that mean i should raise the voltage?
