Hello, i'll keep it short and quick. Spilled a bit of water on case, water got in case's audio jacks and usb ports ( didnt know at the time) (both ports were active at the time). Plugged off pc, cleaned all with a paper towels, turned on pc, a pop up msg kept on popping up that i have plugged and unplugged device constantly. Tried to look up info on internet, something said to restart computer ( cant remember anymore doesnt matter really) shut off pc, tried to turn it back on didnt work anymore. Pulled everything appart, (gpu cpu etc) next day plugged everything back in pc will turn on, but then it will shut off imideately. Seems like a power short cut. Question, what could be damaged in this situation? thank you.

Solution

If you didn't apply new paste then the thermal dissipation from the CPU may be low which could cause it to overheat which could shut the PC down immediately, like you are experiencing.

Hi Nusonsjxxxx. When you removed the CPU and put it back, did you clean off the old thermal compound and apply some new thermal compound?

It wasnt the problem, the problem was in motherboard itself. I apparently have fried a gpu port and 3 ram slots. And a ram stick. I placed my other ram stick in 3rd out of 4 slots and computer started working. Placed my gpu in other slot and that worked as well. I am experiencing some micro stutter when using it but that's fine. I know now what I have broken and I will replace that when I will have money for it. But thanks for the reply.

EDIT: How do I close the post?
