Water damage to computer. Power but no display.

So I had a friend spill water onto my computer and I believe a little water got inside. I wasn't home when it happened so I don't know exact details, but I do know they said the screen went blank. And after cleaning all water I could find (didn't see any besides on the case and the power button) I tried starting it up to no avail. The lights turn on, the fans spin, but there's no video. I tried a different graphics card, and it does the same thing. My best guess would be the motherboard, but I don't know. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't turn the thing on. It's likely you shorted the power button, but could be anything. If you aren't ready to replace the whole thing just in case, take it to a professional.

That and ban drinks from anywhere around your computer, I've banned uncovered drinks within 3 feet of all computers under my care a long time ago

dry what you can and let it air out a good week before powering on. no telling where water got and you want to be positive it's dry when booting.

Do you think that turning it on before I aired it out could have messed it up more?

yes it is possible...let it dry as i mentioned and hope for the best. if you just shorted the power button you should be ok...in theory.
