I spilt a drop of water on my motherboard I did not notice and my computer shorted out, I left it unplugged over night with a fan blowing into it to dry. When I plug it in the light on the motherboard turns on I press the power button some fans try to spin then it stops but the green light on the motherboard stays on what should I do ?

Solution
Tap water conducts electricity since there are small amounts of calcium and magnesium salts dissolved in it, pure water (distilled or deionised) has nothing at all in it that can conduct electricity. So it is possible to short circuit a motherboard depending on where the water landed.

PCBs become contaminated and can be repaired. Scroll down this page to see some examples of Customer Induced Damage.

Try removing the battery from the motherboard and reinstalling it. Unplug from the PSU and reattach. Can you see any message on screen or is it just black? There might be power failure to your motherboard and the green light stays on due to the onboard battery. Try also removing RAM and reinstalling. Unfortunately water and electrical goods are no go. It could cause all sorts of issues.
