Waterchill, anygood ?

Well do you have any experience with water cooling? It isn't something to be taken lightly, there is great risk of frying your system. However, with proper installation that risk can be mitigated.

Overall that will probably be a decent setup. I don't know much about prices in AUS, so I can't speak as to its "value."

Black Ice rad is a good choice, it has a fairly high flow rate. The CPU block itself is probably a mid rage block, so you could do better buying it separately but it might cost more.

Why are you considering this over a tuniq tower? Heavy OC? high temps?

that price would probally be about $200 for u guys in the states.

and im just lookin rite now, but yeah i just want something that cools awesomely cause it gets pretty darn hot here.

oh yeah, dunno if i can get any tuniq towers or scythes around these parts. so i go the next best thing, watercooling/chilling whatevas better.

and yeah i do have a fair amount of experience and am confident i wont root up anything.

I just wanted to make sure you knew what you were getting yourself into because you went from high end air cooling to mid range water. Overall, that kit will do the job. I doubt you will be unhappy with the kit if you install it properly.

You might want to check the availability of Swiftech parts (as I have no idea what is available in AUS 8O ). Swiftech and DangerDen are usually the gold standard of water blocks. Thermochill and BlackIce are among the best radiators. Hydor and Swiftech make the best pumps, Ehiem (if they still exist) were also among the best but cost nearly double Hydor and weren't any better.

Hmmmm, I can venture a guess, but that is all it would be, a guess.

It depends on ambient room temps. However, call the room temp 80F for arguments sake.

Idle temps should be in the mid to high 20's C idle, maybe 30c, (stock settings) and load probably around 41-42C (still fairly cool).

With voltage increases, as well as speed increases, I would 50-52C.

I don't have a great basis for these guesses, but this is my instinct based on reading/my limited C2D experience. I haven't watercooled a C2D yet, still working off my AMD Opteron on water.

Try google for your specific C2D + Water cooling and see what you get, can't hurt to try.

Alright, off to class! :?

thanks heaps for that dude, especially for that site 😀 im willing to spend about 300 (AUS) in total on watercooling, but it wont be for a while. Gotta get a job then wait for some nice new gear to arise. But if i can get something that'll kick the butt outta ya normal watercooling setup for $300 or less, i'd most likely go that route

Where are the BIX radiators in terms of performance?
I've always thought that the Thermochill PA series were the best in regard to flow resistance but it's a bitch finding 3/8" BSPT fittings - decent vendors to get fittings from :?:
