Components List:
Corsair carbide 275r tempered glass
R9 290X (watercooled)
Ryzen 2700x (watercooled)
ASUS Prime X470 Pro
EK supremacy (cooler)
EK 120mm rad
EK 240mm rad
EK-XRES 140 DDC (incl. pump)
EK 120mm pump bracket

Hi there,

I am currently putting a system together and ran into many issues with the loop.
I currently do not have enough clearance for my GPU between the res/pump and the slot.
This would not be a problem if I wasn't watercooling, is there a potential way to get around this issue??

I have linked below pictures of my current system up too to show the issue.

I would love some help from the community on ideas + solutions.

Cheers

Had a look at the pics. The two suggestions on there would seem likely candidates. Elevate the pump/res combo a bit above the GPU space required, or use the vertical mount I/O option w/ riser cable. Also, what are your radiator options in this particular case? I was never really a fan of using 120mm radiators in a custom loop setup from the cost and complexity involved from plumping fittings & tubing vs. the small benefit of cooling capacity. If there isn't a choice though, it's the only option.

Okay so those are my only two rads, I picked them from a used system, I don't really have many other options and I defiantly need both as not even both of those are enough to keep the loop really cool. Temps will sit around the 35 degrees Celsius mark.
Would the pump work upside and have it mounted on the 240mm rad up top?
If not I will probably buy a riser
Case supports 360mm slim (front), 240mm (top) and 120mm (back)

Unfortunately there is not enough clearance to put that slim rad in the top :(

Hmm, the R9 290X is an absolute beast of a card. It runs very hot.

This is might take some modding, as in finding longer screws maybe?, you can mount the fans outside in the top of the case and the radiator inside.

If you are upto it, maybe even make an acrylic shroud to cover the fans outside.

Solid suggestions but the pump res must sit on the radiator on the bracket I have for it and even putting the rad up top with fans outside the case is still not enough clearance :(((

I will update the pictures to show what I have done

^ I think you misunderstood, I was making that suggestion to include a slim 240 rad in the top. So it's 2 240 and a 120 rad in the system in total. Nothing about the front rad, pump res.

Did you mount the gpu vertically and checked for clearance?

Is something like this possible? https://youtu.be/gzJojfjA--o

Since it's a 150ml res pump, enough space to mount it with the top rad?

Also, check if something like this is possible : https://www.singularitycomputers.com/?s=Rail&post_type=product

^ that lets you mount the pump res at any height instead of infornt of a fan.

Last resort would be to take a dremel and enlarge the front radiator cutout in the psu shroud.

^^ is my solution and I think it will be a solid one hopefully ahaha.
Thank you so much for the suggestions and help, it was much appreciated!

Yea it should be alright, I have three points on the GPU where I can have the fittings run off for either IN/OUT, I will trial and error to get the best one
