I'm essentially looking for a waterproof eBook-reader but when I made a search for "waterproof eBook" I saw tablets; however I'm having doubts how long they would last with display change every few minutes (changing the eBook page). The system needs to last > 10 hours with display change, say every 7 minutes, gray-scale suits me just fine, or if it's a high PPI even monochrome (I'm assuming at a high PPI you can do monochrome patterns that approximate gray-scale quality).

Kindle Paperwhite is currently 115 CAD (at the time of creathing this thread = 84.38 USD = 74.23 €) which is a 6" 300 PPI eBook-reader with front light (and of course waterproof). Perhaps someone can suggest something with a better quality-price ratio? Better quality could include a larger display, bigger charge (battery), higher PPI, or even better waterproofing.

Thank you kindly

Moderators: I'm using FF 73.0.1 on Ubuntu 9.2.1 and I can't change the font size (of this post).

Solution
"Traditional" tablets have LCD screens, and there is nothing wrong with then page-turning every so often - there's nothing mechanical inside to wear off but battery - they consume power all the time. True eBook readers use different technology (electronic ink paper), apart from much better contrast ratio, consume power only during page-turns.

I doubt you'll get anything better (as a book reader) than Paperwhite for this price. I would not consider cheap Android tablets at all.

Kindle paperwhite, hands down, no question.

I have an earlier version (not the waterproof). It is vastly better than reading on a tablet, phone, or laptop.
This is my second, I think its 3 years old(?)
The e-ink is a much better reading experience.

I use mine literally every day. At most, it needs a recharge once a week.

Additionally, because it is a single purpose device, it won't interrupt me with "You've got mail!", or the latest tweet from someone I don't care about.
