Wattage for my new computer

hey am building a new computer and i was just wondering if a 500 watt psu would be able to run all these parts well
Specs
FX-8320
R9 280X
WESTERN DIGITAL 1 TB
Hyper 212
Msi g43-970a mb
case comes with one fan but going to add more

Depending on the make/model of the "500W" PSU, yes. But it will be marginal. The 280x (stock) is a 250W card maxed out and the 8320 is a 125W CPU (not OC'ed).

With its small-ish 38A/456W +12V rail and the problematic capacitors used in the CX line, it will be dicey. But it should be OK. If you notice shut downs or re-boots when gaming (stressed out), that may be a sign the PSU can't maintain the voltage. But it should be safe.
If you intend on OC'ing , Id get a better/bigger PSU.
