[SOLVED] Wattage recommendation for two gpus

So right now my specs are
I9 10850k
Lian li galahad aio cooler
Msi z490 mpg gaming plus
Evga Gtx 1080 ti sc2
120gb ssd 2.5”
WD 1Tb Hard drive
Superflower leadex III 80 plus gold 850w in a lian li lancool 2 case
It is also a new build, do you think 850w is enough for another 1080 ti?

Possibly, but I wouldn't recommend it. The CPU has a 125 watt TDP. The GTX 1080 Ti has 1x8-pin and 1x6pin power requirements. That means the graphics card can draw between 225 and 300 watts. Two of them means up to 600 watts (725 with the CPU). Granted, this is at max load, which is unlikely, but I'd want a bit more headroom if I were going to stress the system in any way.

That cpu might have a 125w TDP but can hit much higher power draw. Here over 200w without overclocking

Personally I feel you want 1000w, 850w is pushing it too far. Also why do you want 2 gpu’s, I hope it’s not for SLi gaming.

Im not OC anything either, i did go on psu calculator websites and the total was 736w for each website

Well SLi it was something i was thinking about but isn’t it niw called nvlink? Which is the same thing?

For dual cards I like to have 1000W personally as a MIN for head room and cause I like overhead lol.

Sli is effectively dead, along with CF. Windows 10 is DX12 based, which is multi-gpu. No native sli support. That requires DX11 games, especially older titles which did have some support. Even then it's hit or miss as to how much support they had, everything from @ 70% fps gains to negative % fps.

When cards like the 1080ti and newer are maxing out resolutions in solo, sli became pointless. This is most apparent with the 30 series cards, none carry nvlink except the 3090, and thats more for vram and production than gaming fps gains.

You'd be better off putting one of those 1080's up for sale, tucking the money away safe, and waiting on gpu prices to come down out of rediculous stupidity for pricing. Then get something decent. A single 1080 isn't at all bad for 1080p and won't have the issues related to sli and DX12 and windows 10. Even a 3070 will get better overall performance in any title.
