Watts calculator for pc

Hello,

I currently have an HP Pavilion Media Center m8100n and just purchased a BFG GeForce 9600GT OC..

i've read a few times that the stock power supply will not support this video card.

is this true?
what would happen if i did try to use it?

The worst that can happen is that it won't work at all or the PC will not be stable.
